Position Summary
The Data Engineer will be responsible to integrate complex datasets, identify data gaps, and develop solutions to provide stronger customer visibility insights for enhanced marketing and sales targeting efforts. This role will act as the key architect in creating our scalable Data Mart, which will serve as marketing's main source of data for targeting and winning new customers. This individual will work with Global Marketing, Digital Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Regional Marketing, Sales, and Sales Operations to accomplish business objectives. This person will be reporting to the Strategic Regional Marketing Manager - Americas.
The right candidate will possess excellent analytical, business, and communication skills. Collaboration with business owners to develop, define and answer key business questions through data analysis will be essential.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
Drive our Marketing Data Mart program to enable strong customer profiling and visibility (i.e. install base, volume) contributing to improved customer targeting efforts
Develop efficient and scalable data engineering infrastructure & solutions; create and manage datasets that translate into meaningful targeting insights & strategies for the sales and marketing teams to win new business
Align data systems to solve complex data problems aligned to achieve business goals; Utilize statistical modeling techniques where appropriate to drive business decisions
Onboard new data sets (from a variety of sources), assess data quality, perform data engineering or ETL for data marts, visualizations, or data science models
Write SQL in various flavors to build harmonized data models that our business users can use to better target the appropriate customer and win new business
Build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: increase data integrity, automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience/Skills:
5+ years of experience in SQL and RDBMS - complex joins, unions, intersects, subqueries, string manipulation, window functions.
Strong background in stored procedures / functions with an advanced database system - preferably Postgres, but at a minimum SQL Server or Oracle.
Expertise in data warehouse & data mart design -building star/snowflake schemas, constructing multi-dimensional/OLAP cubes, performing MDX queries, and running analytical functions (i.e. rollups, drilldowns, slicing/dicing, etc.)
Experience in both scripting and middleware (think Python and Informatica) to integrate data from different sources and get it ready for use by downstream processes.
Excellent analytical skills, ability to evaluate problems, and provide solutions to address key stakeholder/business needs
Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including engineering, IT, product management, finance, and operations
Strong sense of what data architecture decisions need to be made to provide the best possible foundation for our analysts.
Experience in Database DevOps experience in building out CI/CD pipelines (possibly with tools such as Liquibase or DBmaestro).
Solid project management skills and be comfortable working in both Scrum and Kanban approaches. Experience with JIRA, Confluence, etc. a plus.
