About this Position
The Chief Engineer, Autonomous Driving Software North America will spearhead our Autonomous Driving (AD) software development team for North America. The position is located in Troy, MI, and be responsible for supervising and leading all aspects in the development and execution of the AD software team. This leader will work in tight conjunction with the European AD software team and the Advanced Software (Core) development team, as well as the regional based application teams to provide production software solution that meet the automotive quality standard set forward. This role will represent Aptiv's Autonomous Driving Software development both to intern Aptiv Leadership team and to our customers.
Responsibilities and Duties
This highly-visible manager position will be responsible for the following:
•Establish and lead a product-centric organization of 100+ software developers to support production-ready software for customer releases and commitments (workflow, resources, deliveries, validation, processes)
•Lead and own the industrialization of the existing advanced AD software with regard to automotive quality standards (e.g. ASPICE) and embedded software resource limitations
•Represent AD software development in front of Aptiv Leadership Team and Customers.
•Champion the integration of the Agile process into the product line
•Lead integration of Functional Safety and Cyber Security into production software and development process
•Coordination and alignment between Advanced Development and Production Development projects
•Manage the production software engineering budget for the business unit
•Manages all aspects of software subcontractor selection and evaluation for customer application production software support
•Drives engineering excellence throughout the organization; identify engineering quality/efficiency improvement opportunities and drive improvements to engineering standard work through their Engineer Group Manager (EGMs) or the Competencies. Position Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
•7+ years of hands-on embedded software work experience
•5+ years of hands-on experience in robotics or autonomous systems development in at least one of the following areas: Computer Vision, LiDAR, ADAS, Autonomous Vehicles, Sensor Fusion, or Vehicle Control
•5+ years of experience with at least one of the following areas: Perception, Object Tracking, Localization, Machine Learning and Motion Planning/Control
•5+ years of hands-on experience managing a team of 15 or more direct reports
Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications)
•Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
•Experience with ADAS
•Excellent Communication skills (both oral and written)
