Job Duties: Responsible for the general oversight and management of the public beach and the safety and well-being of all beach patrons.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the swim area at the public beach through attentive supervision.
- Maintaining an upright and alert position that will enable you to observe all swimmers and signals from other guards.
- Applying First Aid when necessary and assessing patient condition.
- Enforcing beach rules in a courteous, but firm manner.
- Responding to all questions from the public, when appropriate. If your duty, at the time, prohibits you from an involved conversation, notify the head lifeguard or refer the person to your supervisor.
- Keeping the park and beach area clean from any trash, dead animals, debris, and hazardous objects.
- Other duties as assigned by the head lifeguard or the Director of Parks & Recreation.
Days/Hours: Life guards will work 12:00pm until 6:00pm on weekdays and 11:00am to 6:00pm on weekends. Applicant must be available to work on Saturday, July 10th for the Anchor Bay Triathlon. Life guards will work approximately 30 hours per week. Weekends are required.
Qualifications:
- Life guards must be at least 16 years old.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license
- Must be life guard certified through the American Red Cross or obtain certification by 5/1/19
- Must be able to meet physical aspects of the job and complete regular ability assessments.
- Must be able to work weekends on a consistent basis.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred
- Life guards are required to work at least two of the following: Memorial Day weekend, July 4th weekend, Labor Day weekend.
Wages: $10.65 – $11.65
