Our Tetra Tech Ann Arbor, MI office is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer. The successful candidate must be able to use computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software, and provide engineering drafting/design support for electrical work on Municipal, Industrial, and Commercial projects. This is a non-exempt, full-time position.
Your Role:
Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to set up and manage construction drawings
Prepare 2D and 3D models, plans, sections, process & instrumentation diagrams, and detail drawings
Prepare dimensional drawings, create and/or modify base drawings
Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes
Create and manage electronic document file structure, and naming conventions in accordance with company standards
Work a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output
Work on multiple projects at the same time to successful completion
Follow CAD standards, whether the customer's or Tetra Tech's
Work with project teams on drawings that meet or exceed the customer's requirements (bid and submittal phase).
Requirements:
Associate degree of completion in CAD drafting or related field, plus at least two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience using either Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit for electrical drawing and following client standards. For Autodesk Revit experience, knowledge of linking files, setting up plan views, using view templates, and work sets are preferred.
Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficient in either or both Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
Experience with design work for electrical power, instrumentation controls, and lighting is desirable.
Experience with Revit add-on such as Elum Tools is a plus.
Excellent communications skills: Interpersonal, listening, oral and written
Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office
Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications
Familiar with design parameters related to electrical work for buildings and water and wastewater treatment plants.
Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures
Able to work with minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment
Able to efficiently schedule and manage time
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
Must be able to achieve generally stated objectives and requirements
