Job Description
MV Transportation is seeking Mechanics of all skill levels (A, B, C) who will perform preventive maintenance inspections on various types of light to medium duty fleet vehicles. These positions require the technician to be able to perform diagnostics along with associated repairs and preventive maintenance, appropriate to their skill level. All technicians must possess or obtain an EPA 609 refrigerant handling certification. ASE and/or manufacturer certifications are preferred. These positions will report to the Maintenance Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
* Diagnoses, examines, and investigates vehicles to determine causes of defective operation of engines, transmissions, differential units, charging/starting systems, cooling systems, injectors, air conditioning systems, and other vehicle components.
* Determines proper course of action to facilitate vehicle repair, maintenance, adjustment, and component replacement.
* Maintains, adjusts, and/or repairs all vehicle systems, components, and parts including hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, steering and suspension components, and air conditioning systems to ensure the operational fitness of vehicles.
* Performs major overhauls, major tune-ups, and repair to brakes and steering systems.
* Repairs or replaces windows and seats and performs minor body repair.
* Operates vehicles in order to verify complaints, diagnose component failure, make roadside repairs, or move disabled buses/vehicles.
* Safely operates shop equipment such as: hydraulic lifts, hoists and jacks, brake lathes.
* Communicates, and consults with all levels of employees.
* Performs daily inspections and repairs on fleet.
* Responds to breakdowns
* Accurately documents work in electronic Fleet Management system.
* Mentors lower skill level technicians.
* Performs related duties, as required.
* Technicians are required to provide their own tools, appropriate to the position.
Talent Preferred Requirements:
* Five (5) years of experience as an automotive or diesel technician, which may include fleet experience.
* Have taken basic automotive or medium duty repair courses or have good understanding of basic automotive/medium duty vehicle systems.
* EPA 609 certification or ability to obtain in first 90 days of employment.
* ASE preferred.
* Work well with others and willing to learn.
* Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
