As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.
What you'll be able to do:
Troubleshoot all joining related downtime and quality concerns and implement permanent solutions to push improvement
Investigate and resolve all customer concerns - which includes Form 26s, 8Ds, and 6 Panel Investigations
Maintain and update all joining documentation - such as 1A4s, sealer set point parameter sheets, visual aids, NDT tracking and certification documentation.
Support local NDT program and train inspectors when needed.
Lead annual weld audit and provide recovery plan for any discrepancies
Lead weekly Joining meeting to inform management of the plant status of joining issues
Investigate and give guidance to weld expulsion minimization
Develop and implement Single Point Lessons and local processes for skilled trades
Train and coach skilled trades as needed
Launch welding related tooling and processes.
The minimum requirements we seek:
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of experience in manufacturing - working as a Joining Engineer
2+ years of experience in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology.
Our preferred requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
NDT Level 2 (preferred)
Ability to lead and work with UAW skilled trades
Ability to read and understand Engineering Specifications, prints, and diagrams
Understanding of Resistance Spot Welding, Projection Nut Welding, Drawn-Arc Stud Welding, and MIG/TIG manual welding processes for repair
Experience with industrial automation as it applies to an automotive facility- mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Experience with robot programming and mechanical maintenance.
Working knowledge Bosch Weld Timers, Nelson stud welding, Lincoln Robotic MIG welding, Henrob Rivet tools, Weber Flow Drill (preferred).
Working knowledge of WQR
