Job Summary: Under supervision of the RN, serves as an integral member of the health care team by performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in their assigned area. This position will provide total on-the-job training and education to ensure each patient care assistant can provide safe and quality care to every patient.
Unit Description: Boven Birth Center provides a family-centered care with 4 triage rooms, 8 labor and delivery rooms, and 21 mother/baby rooms. This unit is a Perinatal Care Unit that provides comprehensive interdisciplinary care for neonates and childbearing women/families during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
Essential Functions
Provides direct patient care under supervision of the RN, including but not limited to taking vitals, assisting with daily living skills including patient hygiene, patient transferring, and ensuring quality patient care.
Communicates and coordinates services with RNs, fellow patient care assistants, and any other patient provider. Provides input in the development of an individualized plan of care.
Provides unit maintenance including stocking the floor and maintaining an organized environment.
Collects and documents required information regarding a patient's health status.
Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality, safety, and security of patient, staff and organization data.
Responsible for patient registration.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current BLS for the Health Care Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire).
Preferred Education/Training
Certified Nurses Aide Certificate (CNA)
Previous patient care experience, knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy, bilingual.
