SUMMARY
The Radiology system architect is responsible for designing and implementing short and long-term strategic goals for managing and maintaining information systems and software, related to Munson Healthcare's Radiology business. They must assure that all planned and in-place system architectures are aligned with the specific Radiology goals and MHC initiatives. Research new technologies, create plans and deploy systems that will increase cost effectiveness and flexibility. Design, create and monitor the implementation of end-to-end integrated systems. Review new and existing system designs and make recommendations for improving or altering the systems. Consult with department leaders and end-users to further infrastructure development and utilization improvements. Develop and execute test plans to check technical performance of infrastructure and report findings. Based on findings, make recommendations for improvement and deploy software and hardware updates. Develop policies for standardizing systems and management of downtime. Create, maintain, and troubleshoot Radiology related interfaces.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Associates degree in related field with 10 years' experience in Information Systems and at least 4 years' experience required as system administrator for health care related software applications
Must have experience dealing with data processing/clinical information systems hardware and software required. Progressively more responsibility in a Radiology environment preferred.
Experience in installing, upgrading, interfacing and maintaining clinical operating systems and system software required.
Proven ability to perform basic programming functions required.
Experience with Cerner PowerChart / integrated system preferred.
ORGANIZATION Reports to Director of Radiology Services. Must maintain a working relationship with all Radiology and Information Systems support personnel.
On-Call coverage is required to respond to emergent situations during off hours.
Maintains a professional working relationship with all hospital staff from user departments, vendors and with other regional health care facilities.

• Maintains working knowledge of PACS / RIS hardware and operating systems and is responsible for technical support on various parts of systems. Performs tasks related to maintaining a viable, on-going operating environment and demonstrates technical proficiency in all aspects of PACS / RIS technology. Designs, configures and operates hardware and software that enhances the function in MHC Radiology.
• Monitors system patterns and performance and makes appropriate modifications to provide maximum availability and throughput, while also monitoring usage of all Radiology systems.
• Required to work closely with appropriate vendor / Information Systems to provide appropriate hardware/software support and system troubleshooting. Is a primary resource for all PACS / RIS internal questions
• Advises, consults and is a primary resource in the implementation of PACS / RIS system programming applications.
• Assists in prioritizing projects and tasks and ensures that all requests are satisfied in a timely manner, while maintaining proper operating records and documentation at all times. Assist in functionality and quality testing of new or existing products.
• In cooperation with the Director of Radiology Services and Information Systems, is responsible for planning and organizing all PACS / RIS projects, and maintaining and upgrading PACS / RIS software, and assists and advises in the planning and installation of new PACS / RIS hardware and customizing, maintaining and tuning operating system software.
• Insures an adequate system testing has taken place prior to major systems changes, modifications or upgrades.
• Contributes to the team orientation of all Radiology Department and related Information Systems operations and as such, is responsible for proper communication with pertinent department members.
• Maintains CMS readiness in relation to computer systems including PACS / RIS operational procedures and documentation including downtime.
• May be required to take appropriate actions to correct PACS / RIS system errors, for continued operations when individual units of Radiology system continuum malfunction.
• Will assist in all aspects of Radiology operations as circumstances require, based on department policies.
• In an on-call / emergent situation, may be required to schedule vendors and/or hospital support staff to resolve PACS / RIS hardware / software failures.
• Render advice and assistance to Information Systems concerning radiology -specific applications.
• Provides PACS / RIS support to other Munson Health Care facilities.
• Provides assistance to Radiology staff in trouble shooting and solving system related problems. Provides oversight and direction to less experienced coworkers.
