About the Role
The Senior Director for Product Management Design leads a global direct and matrixed team of experts to drive and define the Product and Platform strategy, technology roadmap, innovation strategy, customer pursuit strategy, and Platform reuse approach. You will consolidate the regional differences and develop customer-centric product roadmaps, define innovative business models across the Digital Cockpit product lines and align with HARMAN's greater Automotive portfolio. You will create compelling and differentiated product propositions based on market needs, customer segments, and technical feasibility, aligned to overarching product strategy; while ensuring product delivery from ideation to launch. This position will drive revenue and margin expansion of existing product lines by partnering closely with HARMAN customer groups including pricing strategies through the Digital Cockpit business unit. With a focus on being the voice of the customer, this individual will be responsible for anticipating market needs and ensuring requirements are fed into the global management framework. The end goal is to position the Digital Cockpit Business Unit to remain the market leader in Digital Cockpit solutions and drive profitable growth for the division.
Your Team
The team is comprised of professionals focusing on Product Management, Business Development, Platform Management, and Requirements Management to define, design, and execute a comprehensive strategy. You will also work closely with HARMAN's Automotive Division leadership team, colleagues in engineering and other business units, key external partners, and customers to ensure that the strategy aligns with the needs of the market.
What You Will Do
Analyze appropriate customer insights, market data, and technology and product trends for HARMAN to define necessary product requirements like pricing or SOP timing.
Define a Platform and Product Portfolio for the Digital Cockpit BU that enables the BU to exceed its 2025 business targets and align with market insights. Find and define OEM-winning product and value proposition opportunities that differentiate HARMAN from our competitors, increase revenue and margins., and deliver a strong ROI of platform investments.
Manage and maintain a roadmap of Product Lines that allows HARMAN to lead in the market.
Conduct market intelligence and assess competitive positioning by comparing HARMAN's portfolio to competitors' products and ecosystems.
Develop and maintain an ecosystem of partners that contribute to HARMAN's business model and position in the value chain.
Define Make vs Buy options in upcoming technology areas that may be of interest to the BU as part of its growth strategies
Work closely with HARMAN's Customer Groups to define global and region-specific pursuit strategies. Ensure there is a close alignment between the Platform roadmap and the customer needs of now and the future.
Co-drive HARMAN's Digital Cockpit RFQ engagements together with the Customer Groups.
Work closely with Finance Controlling and Engineering groups to define and control the overall budget on platform and product investments for the BU.
Identify the Go-To-Market approach by prioritizing emerging technologies and innovations. Work closely with marketing and business pursuit teams to help craft an effective marketing pitch for the platforms and support showcasing Platform solutions at different venues like CES, Geneva, and Technology days
Directly responsible for Platform Definition, Product Requirements definition, Business Development, Program management (for internal reference platform development), business sales team, and RFQ support teams.
Drive Platform Requirements documentation and align with Product derivatives
Demonstrate an ability to think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers.
What You Need
15+ years of Product Management experience.
15+ years managing customer projects, platforms, and end-to-end delivery experience
Proven track record of defining and successfully selling Platform-based solutions.
Business acumen to gauge not just what can be done but to know how to build profitable product lines.
Strong customer orientation through credibility with the customer as a trusted, collaborative and productive partner.
Experience working in a matrix, global, cross-functional organization by collaborating with key stakeholders in sales, product operations, marketing, and engineering.
Results- and detail-oriented: holds him/herself and others accountable for commitments.
Experience with effectively communicating with C-Level & BoD
Ability to attract, retain, and motivate best-in-class talent. Promotes and develops top talent; moves or changes incorrect talent when needed
Ability to think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers.
What is Nice to Have
Relevant education in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
