Job Description
Our Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls (VMEC) group is looking for a Hardware-in-the-Loop Application Engineer, who will play a meaningful role in the development and deployment of HIL testing environments to enable development, verification and validation of embedded controllers for engine, transmission, hybrid, electrification, chassis, and intelligent brake controls. You will work with our global engineering teams to understand testing environment requirements, translate those needs into hardware configurations that you will execute and be the first contact for users encountering issues!
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as a key owner of a family of HIL benches and their associated software and hardware tools.
* Coordinate HIL bench deployment and support for a family of VMEC HIL benches and their associated software and hardware tools.
* Work with internal resources and suppliers (of test benches and control modules) to provide bench harness, load boxes, and coordinate changes following the standard processes to ensure effective bench rollout.
* Provide technical support and testing assistance for test script development, test execution (cadence HWIO and milestone testing), test automation support and other bench customer activities.
* Update host PCs, verify proper model version, Control Desk (or other HIL software tool) versions, INCA software version, and license control.
* Release the HIL bench BOM and coordinate deployment & support for VMEC HIL benches and their associated software and hardware tools.
* Plan, communicate, and coordinate HIL strategy and model rollout to support applications and features requested by user community as needed.
* Work with the HIL supplier to provide hardware specifications of HIL benches based on future control system specifications
* Work with team members, bench customers, technical leaders and management as necessary to support and execute program imperatives
Additional Job Description
Required Skills and Experience
* BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science
* Knowledge and a minimum of 2 years work experience in control system design, integration, and testing or automotive controls calibration development
* Real-time simulation knowledge of dSPACE or other HIL / SIL simulation platforms
* Modeling experience in Matlab / Simulink
* High degree of functional / technical and project management skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead multiple difficult assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results.
* Strong problem solving skills and ability to support multiple programs and/or activities
Preferred Skills and Experience
* Knowledge and 1-5 years of experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop tools for automotive embedded controls software Verification & Validation
* Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls or Vehicle Plant Modeling and Integration experience
* Experience with commonly used HIL bench tools, such as ETAS INCA, Lauterbach, CAN (CANalyzer or Vehicle Spy), software code generation, Python, etc.
* Knowledge and 1-5 years of experience developing microprocessor-based, real-time control algorithms and software in high level (C/C++) language
* DFSS Black Belt Certification
