A postdoc in Adrenal and Endocrine Hypertension research is available in the Turcu Lab at the University of Michigan.
· A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Adina Turcu (https://turcu.lab.medicine.umich.edu), where we are interested in developing biomarkers for single-step diagnosis and subtyping of primary aldosteronism, as well as other form of endocrine hypertension. We are seeking highly motivated candidates (who possess a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree) interested in conducting research focused on understanding translating the molecular and genetic aspects of adrenal disorders and endocrine hypertension into clinically relevant applications.
We utilize human biospecimens, including serum, tissue, and cells, as well as in vitro cell models, mass spectrometry, immunostaining, and next generation sequencing, to conduct our studies.
The fellow is expected to contribute to the laboratory research on projects focused on developing biomarkers for primary aldosteronsim diagnosis and subtyping, as well as other related projects; the fellow should have the ability to contribute intellectually to the projects, write manuscript drafts, present their work in academic settings, such as journal clubs, local/national/international meetings. S/he is expected to work collaboratively with lab team members, mentor junior trainees rotating in the lab, and contributing to an enthusiastic and productive laboratory atmosphere. The fellow will be mentored in preparation of manuscripts, presentation of work at national/international meetings, and grant submissions to support their development of skills needed for the remainder of their career. She/he will also participate in research supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the NIH. Candidates with previous training in the laboratory techniques mentioned above and with understanding of steroid biology are particularly encouraged to apply.
