Beautiful, historic Downtown Bay City, named a Great American Main Street in 1999, seeks a dynamic and creative executive to lead Downtown development activities on behalf of the Downtown Management Board (DMB) and Downtown Development Authority (DDA). With many unique destination businesses, a vibrant historic district, an active entertainment presence and an exploding housing market named one of the nation’s most affordable, Downtown Bay City’s spectacular location on the Saginaw Riverfront makes it an ideal location for new investment.
The Executive Director must understand trends in small city development, including new housing opportunities and mixed use applications, jobs development, parking management, promotions and special events planning, fund development, complete streets planning and place making, among others. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, ambitious and will bring a positive attitude combined with relevant experience in downtown or community development to the position. They will eagerly work with downtown constituents, building relationships with thought leaders and influencers from the downtown district, city, region, state and Midwest. As independent agencies and strategic planning organizations, the DMB and DDA work closely with each other, local government, the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Great Lakes Bay Regional CVB and other agencies and non-profits to foster a high level quality of life for residents, to create an attractive location for investors and to maintain Downtown Bay City’s position as both city center and visitor destination.
