JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Surgery Manager in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Anesthesia Aide will perform functions to assist with surgical case flow and efficiency within the operating room environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or G.E.D. required.
Three years medical related experience preferred - Operating room related experience desirable.
BLS required and must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
Clerical ability to answer phones, use applicable computer programs associated with duties (May include but not limited to: AllScripts, Meditech, Word, Excel).
ORGANIZATION
This position reports to the Surgery Manager. Supervision received from the Anesthesia Care Provider and O.R. Charge Nurse.

In conjunction with Clinical Engineering (Bio-Med) is responsible for maintaining anesthesia equipment needed for patient care within the surgical suite and Pre-Anesthesia Care Area.
Supplies anesthesia equipment and non-narcotic drugs to the operating rooms.
Stocks and delivers non-controlled medications in the operating rooms.
Removes and restocks equipment between procedures and properly cleans, disinfects and sterilizes per hospital procedure.
Cleans all surfaces of anesthesia machines and carts between procedures.
Maintains department stock levels of gas tanks.
Maintains orderliness of anesthesia work or storage rooms.
Acts as a resource on anesthesia equipment, supplies and maintenance.
Assist with peripheral nerve blocks.
Transports patients as needed.
Enters all OR case charges.
Assist with requisition entry.
Maintains / manages inventory that is special ordered.
Supports purchase requisitions for equipment / special ordering.
Able to schedule procedures.
Runs reports and pulls data as indicated.
Understands the new product request process and supports product conversions as needed.
Maintains visibility in the OR area at all times and communicates with OR Staff when leaving the department.
Safety is a self-responsibility. Know the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines. Perform job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques. Plan your actions to promote safety. Report any unsafe situation/equipment according to hospital procedure.
