The Chemistry Centers within the department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a talented and highly motivated senior scientist to expand our chemical biology platforms targeting biopolymer condensates and protein degradation. This individual will be expected to strengthen our program in chemical biology and contribute to emerging and established collaborative research efforts in pediatric leukemias and solid tumors. The candidate will also be expected to provide scientific mentorship to scientists in the group and contribute to establishing new research directions.
Ideal candidates will have established track record in chemical biology, biochemical/cell-based assay development and screening, molecular biology, proteomics or related fields. We seek individuals with strong records of creative accomplishments, who will interact productively with colleagues within the Department and across St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We seek an individual who will bring senior scientific leadership to expand our research programs and leverage the expertise and capabilities available at the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department.
- Skilled professional who can independently apply, on a broad basis, existing theories, principles, and concepts within the field of chemical biology.
- Demonstrated experience in developing biochemical and cell-based assays and performing small molecule screening is preferred.
- Effective at influencing and building strong working relationships across all levels.
- Advanced organization/multitasking skills and strong work ethic in accomplishing objectives.
- A high degree of self-motivation, organization, communication, and presentation skills; high competence in solving complex problems, as well as the ability to navigate a fast-paced cross-functional and collaborative work environment.
- Develop and execute target and hit identification strategies for protein condensates and targeted protein degradation approaches
- Design and execute experiments for understanding the mechanism of action of novel condensate and protein degradation targeting small molecules
- Prepare samples from cells and tissues for multiple downstream analyses such as western blot and mass spectrometry
- Communicate results and ideas effectively with scientific rigor to team members from all scientific disciplines
- Work closely in a cross-functional team that values innovation and encourages personal development
- Become a valuable contributor to other initiatives as they arise in our fast-paced academic environment
- Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required
- Ten (10) years relevant post-degree work experience is required
- Eight (8) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree
- Six (6) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD
