Job Description
This position will directly support GM Defense, using finite element tools and methods to design and develop chassis components.
As the CAE engineer, you will be directly working on GM Defense projects. Your rolls will include not only building and running FEA models on chassis components, but also developing tools and techniques to meet the unique challenges of the vehicles. You will be interfacing directly with designers, release engineers, validation engineers, test engineers, and chief engineers.
Responsibilities:
* Build and run FEA models on chassis components, also develop tools and techniques to meet the unique challenges of the vehicles.
* Document and archive analysis results and models
* Present results and generate actionable recommendations, based on analysis, as requested and in support of virtual review process
* Actively participate in Product Development Teams
* Actively participate in Vehicle Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Performance Integration Teams
* Interact with design engineers on a regular basis in developing new components and systems
* Develop, track, and update CAE portion of Analysis, Development, and Validation plan
* Oversee integrated supplier CAE activities
* Participate in Statement of Requirements (SOR) process
* Lead development of new CAE techniques
* Keep up to date with latest CAE tools/trends
* Generate technical solutions for current, new, and major programs
* Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development
* Perform complex design analysis
* Develop engineering designs (including subsystems)
* Specify and balance system requirements
* Plan and implement test and/or development programs to support CAE, test, and design communities
* Communicate, coordinate, and consult with engineering departments and customers
* Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products
* Travels as required

Required qualifications:
Please note: This position requires either a U.S. Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization(s).
* 3+ years of CAE engineering experience
* BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Engineering
* Experience with CAE and CAD
* Experience with a CAE modeling tools; HyperWorks &/or ANSA
* Experience with CAE analysis codes; NASTRAN, OptiStruct, Abaqus
* Experienced with structural fatigue theory, tools, and methods; DesignLife/nCode
* Experienced with structural optimization tools and methods; OptiStruct & iSight
* Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
* Strong communication skills to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
* Specific knowledge of engineering subject area (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related area
* High level of oral and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
* 10+ years of CAE engineering experience
* Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Engineering
* Experience with component and sub-system test development and execution including real-time and block cycle testing
* Familiarity with UG-NX CAD & CAE tools as well as MATLAB also preferred
* Previous Defense industry experience.
