The role reports to the Field Service Manager. Target locations are: South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia or Michigan. As a Field Service Eng/Technician for Sealer /Paint application your responsiveness, communication, and continuous follow-up are key components of providing excellent customer service to our customers. This position has a high impact on corporate revenues and on effectively servicing customers. This person is a primary interface between the customer and the ABB Robotic Service Organization and plays a significant role in determining the company's image as viewed by the customer. The field organization is greatly dependent on this person's efficient follow-through and communications. This is a on-call role, that will provide support service to the current robotics customers, with emphasis on the Robotics Sealer or Paint application.

Your responsibilities - Perform on-call emergency repairs of ABB Robotic system equipment in the field and provide system integration support of ABB robots to designated build shops as well as the end-users. Perform robot program changes such as logic, software, and path alterations through either off-line or on-line methodology. Have a mechanical aptitude for performing any mechanical component repair or replacement.
- Provide robot specific or systems training in an informal environment to customers as required and should have knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) communications and other robotic peripheral equipment. Ability to communicate with customers (external and internal) in high-pressure situations and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to be proactive to support customer needs and strong initiative in finding work activities during slow periods.
- Capable of traveling on short notice and handle rigors of air travel and submit sales leads for additional Robotic and system opportunities.
- Ability to think analytically and communicate work location and status daily. Ability to work autonomously, and make sound judgments also should have the option to relocate.
Your background - High school diploma, or GED, and minimum 5 years' experience with automation, maintenance, robotics, automated sealer or paint application, OR Associates' degree, preferably from a technical field, and 3 years' experience with automation, maintenance, robotics, automated sealer or paint application, OR Bachelors' degree, preferably in Engineering, and 1 years' experience with automation, maintenance, robotics, automated sealer or paint application.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.
- Preferably minimum of 1 year of electronic and mechanical skills, and also troubleshooting through deductive reasoning. Formal training or equivalent experience preferred with the ability to read and understand electrical drawings. Computer skills (DOS, Windows).
