Description
The Rehabilitation Aide works under the personal supervision of a registered physical therapist, speech therapist and/or occupational therapist. The aide will assist the therapists with patient treatments; promote quality patient care by keeping the environment clean and orderly and ensuring availability of linens and supplies. If working in acute rehab coordinates care activities for all therapists.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the therapists with the provision of therapy by being the first assist in those cases where two individuals may be required to provide care.
If working in acute rehab completes the schedule board taking into account all scheduling requirements for the patient and the care team. Makes adjustments as requested or required during the shift.
Obtains and sets up necessary equipment, transports patients, and coordinates in acute rehab with PCT (Patient Care Tech) in getting patients ready for treatment.
Responsible for inventory and maintenance of therapy supplies in all service locations.
Assists the discharge planner in acute rehab to meet patient home equipment requirements and works with providers to obtain equipment by patient discharge.
Completes general cleaning of therapy areas as assigned and/or according to schedule, using prescribed cleaning techniques for infection control. Checks all equipment regularly to remove dust and/or dirt to restore to a bright and clean finish and orders supplies.
Attends in-services to update knowledge and/or skills to enhance patient care is expected. Participates in departmental and hospital-wide meetings and committees as appropriate.
Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
High School Graduate. On-the-job trained. Vocational/technical school.
One year experience as a patient care provider.
BLS Certification.
