Maintains proper pharmacy and general safety procedures and standards, including department cleanliness
Ensures the pharmacy computer system is properly maintained and updated of drugs and compounded items
Ensures that all pharmacy operations and record keeping meet licensing standards established by local, state and federal agencies
Execute common store process and helping the pharmacy operations achieve their planned business objectives
Ensure all work processes are performed efficiently and effectively at each work station by performing quality assurance steps
Apply clinical knowledge, best practice guidelines, and evidence-based medicine in the review of prior authorizations and coverage determination requests to promote clinical appropriateness and optimization of care.
Create and maintain medication protocols and criteria for the review of pharmacy prior authorizations and pre-certifications.
Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with prescribers, clients, and staff.
Consult with providers and provide clinical education as needed, applying evidence based medicine and national guidelines when making recommendations.
Work with payers, PBMs, and consultants to effectively manage client-specific utilization management strategies.
Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that focus on the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
As requested, oversee the training of pharmacy residents and students and provide criteria-based feedback on their performance.
Effectively represent Clinical Services on committees and work groups, as requested.
Enforce all State, Federal, and local laws pertaining to drug dispensing and patient information as well as company policies and procedures. Comply with workplace safety standards.
Maintain applicable pharmacist licensure(s) including necessary Continuing Education requirements, without lapse.
Maintain inventory levels to company goals, rotates stock, complies with recalls, and utilizes return process
Focus on customer satisfaction and needs, ensuring that customers are provided superior through use of best practices and prompt communication with physicians, vendors, and colleagues
Helping to create and maintain positive Pharmacy -Physician relationships, as well as the customers
Designs, implements and evaluates methods to improve quality, extent and efficiency of pharmacy services
Stay up-to-date on the latest technology and innovations as they apply to pharmacy practice
Performs staff pharmacist or technician duties when needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
Play an active role in safety programs. These include fire safety, disaster, bomb threat, tornado, infection control, hazardous materials, electrical safety, and personal safety.
Comply with universal precautions and other safety procedures related to hazardous drugs, chemicals and biologicals.
Train new pharmacist and technician employees.
Maintain working knowledge of pharmacy software programs.
Participate in healthcare related community service activities.
Participate in drug education activities for patients and staff.
Participate as Pharmacy Department representative on hospital committees.
Knowledge of and participation in emergency preparedness activities.
Attend departmental staff meetings.
