The Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCHS) seeks a regular, part-time Clinical Dietician to join their team in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
To be successful in this position, candidates must be able to provide nutrition therapy to patients and clients who experience changes in their nutritional status as a result of disease, injury or other causes. This is accomplished by visiting with patients, providing education, and working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to determine appropriate courses of action based on medical information.
This position reports to the Manager of Clinical Dietitians/VP of Clinical Services and Population Health.
RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Provide medical nutrition assessment, therapy, and care services to hospital patients, clients, departments, programs and outside agencies in accordance with established policies and procedures based on Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards; set appropriate goals, and provide nutritional education to patient and/or care team.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to determine course of action and best outcomes.
- Participate and contribute to department curriculum, program development, data gathering and preparing reports as assigned.
- Participate in hospital and community events/programs as assigned.
- Document and maintain data on patient records.
- Participate in continuing education, in-service programs, and current literature as it relates to clinical dieticians.
WAGE/BENEFITS. Starting pay of $21.15 – $31.73 per hour based on knowledge and years of experience. In addition, we offer medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, paid time off (sick, vacation) and life insurance.
WORK SCHEDULE. This is a regular, part-time position with start times as assigned. This position generally works 20-30 hours every week.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.
- Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field (Health, Nutrition, Dietetics) required; Master’s degree a bonus.
- Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics registered or registry-eligible.
- 3 years’ clinical experience as a dietitian preferred.
- CDCES (certified diabetes care & education specialist) certified or obtains certification within 2 years if hired.
- Ability to travel to satellite clinics as needed.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor that ensures trust and competence amongst peers and patients.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-hire drug screening and background check.
