Responsibilities:
At Wirtz Manufacturing, our Project Managers are frequently tasked with the following assignments:
- Serve as a point of communication between Sales and production, Engineering and production, and Materials and production
- They are to set expectations as far as when Engineering releases are needed, follow up, when parts are required in house for assembly, and that the job has been planned properly
- Responsible to make sure only the established manufacturing team is working on their project, and that it is only being worked on in the designated job area
- Set floor working hours for their designated teams, to make sure the project is done according to schedule, and within the expected manufacturing hours, making adjustments as needed.
- Review the respective job costs, and determine if their job was within the expected job cost. If not, they must determine why, and a recommended course of action. This must be discussed with the Operations Manager.
- Occasionally project managers will be assigned special, non- sales order products ranging from anything to do with cost reduction, supplier evaluation, 5S, or any of shop floor improvement project
- On a weekly basis, determine the schedule for the machining and fabrication departments in the shop based on project plans, currently BO’s, forecasted parts, and spare parts.
- Provide project updated on a consistent basis to stakeholders about strategy, adjustments and progress.
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
- Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field
- 5-8 years of project management and related experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
