Our Environmental business has a Business Development Director opening for an entrepreneurial minded leader to implement and drive robust and leading-edge strategic business development and sales efforts. This is a unique opportunity to serve in a start-up business within a company with a strong history. We seek an individual with business development, client relationship, and market analysis expertise who is looking to roll up their sleeves, as well as lead, to deliver exceptional environmental solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a client-focused effort to drive growth of Black & Veatch sales, earnings, and brand in the environmental services market
Develop market analysis and execute business capture strategies cultivating a well-qualified Environmental sales pipeline.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of client/industry business needs to help the business prioritize efforts that will drive the most value to clients and Black & Veatch.
Lead the business development team and coordinate with internal and external clients to achieve/exceed the budgeted and forecasted goals
Expand ongoing relations with existing contacts, identify and meet with key client personnel and decision makers, and establish and encourage relationships between clients and Environmental team members.
Gain and share understanding of prospect's organization, processes, business strategies, product or service offerings, and decision-making structures. Effectively negotiate with multiple levels of executive management within prospective client organizations.
Grow and mentor client and business acumen across Environmental's sales/proposal, project management, and technical teams.
Be accountable for opportunities from prospect to engagement through leadership of sales and proposal teams.

As a full-service environmental consulting practice, services include impact assessment and planning, permitting and regulatory compliance, wetland and floodplain analysis, waterbody and water quality assessment, air quality permitting and management, environmental remediation, noise assessment, pollution prevention planning, linear routing, and right-of-way acquisition.

Solid business background and experienced change agent. Prior experience working with a multinational company, preferably with a US headquarters.
Dynamic and practical hands-on person with a strategic mind-set and experience in relationship management.
Experience collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Able to work in a dynamic organization and effectively interact in a complex matrix organization environment.
Customer-oriented and collaborative team player with the ability to work independently as well as to influence and collaborate with others.
High level of business, contracting, risk, and commercial acumen.
Aware of and adaptive to cultural differences.
Willing to accept new challenges, deal with ambiguity, and focus on results.
Detail orientated and self-motivated with strong analytical skills. Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
BS/BA degree required. MBA or equivalent preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years of sales and business development in the Environmental or Engineering industries or an adjacent industry with a global organization.
Demonstrated success establishing and growing key accounts and integrating selling across business lines/offerings to key accounts.
Experience in infrastructure development within the Power, Water, Oil/Gas, or Telecommunication industries.
