Responsibilities The physician is qualified to provide inpatient medical care to hospice patients who require hospitalization for symptom management or respite care. The physician is committed to making hospice services available to all those who would benefit and participates in on-going educational programs to increase their expertise in caring for hospice patients. In addition, the hospice physician will work effectively and communicate well with the members of the hospice team and fulfill all other requirements of the position. Associate Medical Director Visit Physican Responsibilities: Display expertise in providing symptom management for hospice patients. Attend educational in-services offered by the hospice, and possess an ongoing commitment to enhancing their medical expertise in caring for hospice patients. Possess excellent communication skills with an understanding of working with patients with a terminal illness and their families. Work closely with the medical director, the team physicians and the team leaders to provide continuity of care consistent with the hospice philosophy and the patient's wishes. Work effectively with all members of the hospice team. Provide 24/7 coverage, 365 days a year, and arranges coverage when unavailable and will provide this Information to the Medical Director at least two weeks ahead of any scheduled absences. Will assist in developing opportunities to conduct in-service presentations to the physician medical staff, the nursing staff, the social work and discharge planners and other hospital employee groups as needed. Complete all written documentation in a timely manner. Qualifications Associate Medical Director Visit Physican Qualifications: Is licensed to provide medical care and is a medical staff member in good standing with admitting privileges at least one hospital. Complete the AccentCare orientation for hospice physicians within six months of their effective employment date.
