Boring-Mill Set-up Operator
- Sets up & operates horizontal boring, drilling, and milling machine
- Studies machining instructions, job orders, blueprint, process sheet or layout to determine machining required sequence of operation, tooling, feed and speed rate
- Lift Mold either manually or with crane/hoist onto machine table
- Uses clamps, shims and parallel blocks & verifies position with such instruments as dial indicators, gauge block & height gauges
- Selects and mounts tool in spindle
- Moves controls to set feeds, speeds & depth of cut to position tool, verifying position visually, with instruments, such as thickness gauges and by reading dials
- Starts machine and observes operation
- Verifies dimensions with micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers & dial indicators
- Use precision positioning devices
- Operates machine with automatic positioning controls
- Operate bench grinder to sharpen tools
- Set up & operate vertical boring mill
- MasterCam knowledge a plus
