Description
The Research Nurse is a member of the clinical research team and assists in the recruitment, compliance and follow-up of patients that are eligible for, or registered to a clinical trial. Responsible for managing the research portion of the patient care activities through application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with the research patient, patient's family, ancillary/support services, the physician and the clinical research team. The research nurse provides full clinical trial study coordination.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides clinical trial support to ensure patients are offered appropriate clinical trials following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
Assesses and documents the patient's compliance and response to protocol treatment
Provides clinical research support staff with the documentation needed to determine eligibility and maintain compliance
Provides conduit between physicians, allied health professionals, nursing staff and clinical trial patients regarding trial related issues to maintain a safe environment for the patient while maintaining compliance.
Communicates with patients, families, staff and peers to ensure that treatment plans and research related interventions and activities are understood and revised as appropriate.
Provides a consistent and accessible resource for physicians and clinical staff regarding clinical trials.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Research experience in designated area of work
Nursing experience in area of clinical research focus
