HAVEN’s Mission:
Empower survivors to heal and engage all individuals and communities to address and prevent sexual assault and intimate partner violence.
Position Summary:
Residential Case Manager works closely with our clients, encouraging, empowering and supporting each individual to achieve their highest potential through continuous assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and intervention when needed.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Human Service area or an equivalent combination of education, work and volunteer experience assisting individuals with goal setting, building life skills and problem solving.
- Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Minimum of two (2) years case management, behavioral health or related experience required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of residential services experience and experience in crisis intervention or emergency shelter required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in communication, both verbal and in writing.
- Possess a high level of interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
- Must be comfortable working in an environment where it is necessary to process the past and present trauma endured by survivors.
- Ability to educate and empower victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault who are from diverse backgrounds and who face additional barriers such as: PTSD, substance abuse, poverty, mental illness, unemployment and physical disabilities.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Implement effective case management strategies for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence.
- Continually manage a caseload of six to 11 residential guests.
- Develop personalized goals with residential guests to include financial, legal, housing, medical and educational as identified by the residential guests.
- Build on residential guests’ strengths to assist them in reaching their goals and objectives.
- Ensure regular on-going sessions are conducted with residential guests.
- Educate residential guests on the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Facilitate individual and group meetings with residential guests.
- Assist survivors in understanding of the natural responses to trauma and of healthy coping skills.
- Assist survivors in adapting to a communal living environment focusing on a culture of inclusion and respect.
- Provide conflict resolution and crisis intervention to residential guests when necessary.
- Conduct intakes, complete paperwork, enter data
- Work closely with Resource Room staff to ensure optimized access to resources.
- Facilitate Residential Advisory Board meetings.
- Work with crisis and support line staff to enhance shelter screenings.
- Formulate residential guest referral letters.
- Provide transportation to residents as required.
- Participate in residential field trips.
- Assist in training and mentoring residential program volunteers and interns.
- Provide program and agency overviews to community members as requested.
- Compile/complete grant reporting reports as assigned.
- Provide front desk coverage as needed.
- Clean and prepare residential guest rooms upon discharge.
- Participate in general shelter maintenance and cleaning including light to heavy housekeeping as needed.
In order to ensure a working environment that reflects on quality, teamwork and professionalism the objectives listed below apply to all staff members.
- Attend monthly staff meetings, committee meetings and other meetings as required.
- Cooperate with all other HAVEN programs to achieve organizational goals.
- Complete a minimum of 24 hours of professional development for full time, 12 for part time annually.
- Has knowledge of organizational goals, services and agency history.
- Inform supervisor of high-risk situations.
- Keep supervisor informed of any deviations in weekly schedule.
- Maintain a system to document grant funded activities.
- Participate in the creation and follow through of DV/SA awareness month activities.
- Seek opportunities to represent HAVEN in sharing skills and knowledge via submissions of journal/publication articles, workshops and presentations.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
