WACKER SILICONES is one of the world's biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Ann Arbor site, we are currently looking for a Scientist to join our growing team.
Scientist role is responsible to develop, analyze and test new silicone-based materials and formulations. This role contributes to interdisciplinary R&D projects within a team environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Scientist will develop, analyze and test new silicone-based materials and formulations.
- Contributes to interdisciplinary R&D projects within a team environment for various market segments including health care, consumer care, electronics, industrial etc.
- Accurately records, analyses and reports experiments data
- Focuses on safe lab operations, managing lab routines, including equipment maintenance
- Effectively communicates with internal technical colleagues, including R&D, Business Teams and Production
- Contributes to a creative R&D environment including ideation and innovation discussions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, polymer chemistry or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Chemical synthesis experience in an industrial, academic or government research lab preferred
- Experience of characterization of chemical compounds via analytical techniques such as NMR, IR, GC, DSC etc.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Strong commitment to environmental health and safety excellence
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
