POTAWATOMI LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL INSTRUCTOR
This full time position provide and supervise the instruction of the Potawatomi language and culture to all grades throughout the Hannahville Indian School, pre-school through 12th grade, Adult Education, FACE, Nursery and Day Care programs. This instruction shall be in the Potawatomi language interspersed with English along with proper translation. It is hoped the student body will someday be able to understand the whole of these instructions in Potawatomi.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Michigan Teaching Degree and Teacher Certificate is required. Depending upon the individuals qualifications, background and language proficiency, the Hannahville Indian community has authority to promote certification for individuals who do not possess a valid Michigan teaching certification for up to 3 years in Native American Language and Culture. Documented experience working with children required. Language proficiency in Potawatomi. Ability to carry out projects to their completion without supervision; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff, students and parents.
WAGE: N8 (16.47-24.45) dependent upon qualifications.
