Description:
MA would be required to handling patient phone calls, maintaining medical records and utilizing Epic and swabbing patients for COVID testing. MA will complete these tasks in accordance with all HIPAA regulations and will play an integral role in the care team model. 1. Ensures all relevant reports, tests results, labs and correspondence are available prior to the patient's appointment. 2. Escorts patients to exam room, interviews patients, measures vital signs and document all information in patient's medical record. 3. Reviews patient's medical record to determine needed services and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since last visit. 4. Assists physician or advance practice providers during examination or procedure. 5. Provides patient with information and instructions as authorized by physician or advanced practice provider. 6. Keeps exam room stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintains instruments and prepares them for sterilization and storage. 7. Provides clerical support which may include completing forms/requisitions, answering phones, sending/receiving medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. 8. Cleans rooms between patient visits in accordance with infection prevention and control standards. 9. Administers medications and immunizations under authorization and supervision of physicians and/or advance practice providers. 10. Processes messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and advance practice providers. 11. Processes messages and call backs to patients, medical offices and pharmacies. 12. Processes medication refills according to protocols. 13. Maintains all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperature, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, sterilization fluid charge etc.) 14. Collects and processes blood samples and other non-blood specimens for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. 15. Participates in process improvement activities to enhance patient care and service.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to operate medical equipment safely and correctly. Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards and practices. Working knowledge of medical terminology and experience with computer and information systems.
High school degree (or GED required). Current Certification as MA required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Previous experience as MA preferred.
Graduate of an accredited MA program (must provide proof of graduation before start) is required. Graduate MAs who have not yet completed certification (CMA) or registration (RMA) process or applicable exam must have a certification or registration planned to be obtained within 120 days of hire.
