We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinician to join our TRAILS School Success Initiative's team of talented professionals.
The School Based Coach will be part of a team implementing the TRAILS program through the University of Michigan in collaboration with the Wyandotte School District. The School Based Coach will provide individual and group services to at risk youth and “coach” school staff in the implementation of TRAILS program. The School Based Coach will develop collaborative relationships with school personnel, Trails personnel and agency partners. Candidate will ensure that all of the necessary data for evaluation is gathered and recorded.
Part-time contractual staff must work up to 24 hours per week, Monday – Friday based on client and school needs.
To qualify for this position, you will need the following:
- Must have a Masters Degree or higher and be a Psychologist (TLLP, LLP, or LP), Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or Limited Licensed Master's Social Worker (LLMSW) supervised by a Licensed Master's Social Worker, or a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
- Must possess and retain current licensure in the State of Michigan.
- Must meet Michigan Department of Community Health requirements of a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP).
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families is preferred.
- Must be able to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with children & adolescents and develop collaborative relationship with our providers.
- Able to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems and the wiliness to be flexible, patient and creative.
- Valid chauffeur’s license and favorable driving record is required. Candidates who do not have a chauffeur's license may still apply, but must acquire one by the end of their first month of employment.
- Additional requirements include: a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual families, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other providers, strong leadership skills, effective interpersonal communication skills, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Conduct questionnaires, assess and refer students that meet criteria for mental health services in a school setting.
- Implement the TRAILS model in partnership with the University of Michigan
- Participate in training sessions on TRAILS with the University of Michigan prior to implementing model in the schools
- Provide coaching in individual and group therapy with school personnel
- Coordinate services with mental health and medical professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians and nurses;
- Facilitate collateral contacts with representatives from schools and other community organizations on behalf of children and families;
- Link families with resources available in the community;
- Provide transportation as needed;
- Assist families in scheduling psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews with Psychiatrist;
- Help to identify and eliminate barriers to services;
- Work collaboratively with a team of professionals and paraprofessionals;
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with people and organizations in the community;
- Make referrals to Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services as needed;
- Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, case consultations and training as needed;
- Complete clinical documentation in an timely manner consistent with policies and procedures of The Guidance Center; develop, maintain and review complete case records;
- Participate in program evaluation and program development initiatives;
- Seek consultation with the Supervisor as needed;
- Complete 25 hours of program and or job specific training on an annual basis
- Complete a minimum of 15 hours billable service hours per week. Billable service hour requirements may vary depending on specific caseload and/or duties.
