The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading a team of professionals that are responsible for procuring a variety of commodities. In this role, the Purchasing Manager should support ABT's long term business strategy and financial goals. This role is responsible for developing long term partnerships with suppliers and vendors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement purchasing processes, strategies, and systems to achieve long-term and short-term business objectives in cost, quality, on-time delivery, and market response
Ensure purchasing strategies and execution support new business capture through best value sourcing and supplier partnerships
Manage purchasing team performance through metrics tracking, annual reviews, and recommendations for hire and disciplinary action
Monitor PPV performance and implement cost reduction/avoidance practices to mitigate cost increases to ensure favorable PPV with financial oversight
Monitor and track supplier performance, ensure effective corrective action plans are implemented when needed
Review and approve strategic sourcing agreements to ensure favorable impact on business objectives
Meet with supplier representatives, participate in quarterly business reviews with key suppliers
Support purchasing team in escalation of issues and supplier negotiations; elevate risks to leadership as appropriate
Serve as primary owner of the approved supplier list as developed by sourcing team
Review and approve training plans and work instructions for purchasing activity
Monitor supplier audit activity
Establish commodity categories to identify raw material cost drivers, market pressures, potential supplier pools, and competitive buying power to optimize supplier partnerships, agreements, and buying decisions
Perform other tasks assigned by manager
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business or technical discipline
3-5 years supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
7+ years supply chain management or purchasing experience
APICS or ISM preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience in negotiation, problem-solving and team building
