HOMEMAKER AIDE
Employment Status: Part-time, Non-Union
Starting Pay: $13.54 per hour
GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs household tasks in the home of older adult clients: vacuums, dusts, mops floors, cleans bathroom and kitchen and provides laundry assistance. Schedules clients for service, maintains a calendar, maintains daily written records and reports client changes to Program Coordinator and social workers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Performs housekeeping activities in the clients’ homes, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathroom and kitchen and providing laundry service.
- Prepares meals, as needed, exercising safe food handling procedures.
- Maintains daily client record of services provided. Reports any new changes or concerns including that of health and safety of client to case manager.
- Notifies scheduler or case manager of any cancellations or schedule changes and notifies clients in a timely manner of any changes.
- Provides clients and case managers with a list of needed supplies in order to complete cleaning duties.
- Empties portable toilets, disposes of adult diapers and takes out trash.
- Returns required completed paperwork to the COA office so that the office may verify service and process units.
- Delivers and/or returns durable medical equipment to the office.
- Ensures durable medical equipment is in good working condition and assists with sanitizing any gently used equipment and organization of DME room.
- Provides clients with incontinence supplies and/or personal hygiene toiletries.
- Participates in In-Service trainings and proper reporting for critical incident reports.
- Works with case managers for mandated reporting of suspected abuse and/or neglect.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some experience working with older adults.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Licenses or Certifications
- CPR/First Aid/AED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
