Physician 18 assesses and manages medical conditions/illnesses of the assigned patients at WRPH. This position is responsible for providing medical care and treatment to the patients; including, physical examinations, assessments of injuries/illnesses, preventive health measures, adverse drug reactions and drug interactions; and minor first aide to the staff at WRPH. This position, on a regular basis, provides direct health care services to persons in the care or custody of the state and has unsupervised access to controlled substances. This position provides consultative services fora specialized program of psychiatric services at WRPH for the patients, including training other health care professionals and support staff in the medical review of cases.
This is a Drug and Alcohol tested (DART) position due to direct health care services provided to hospital patients on a regular basis.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Experience
Three years of post, medical degree, full-licensure experience in the practice of medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery.
Additional Requirements and Information
Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.

Leave Time
Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation days per year. Paid Parental Leave
Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.
Deferred Compensation
Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.
Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) (https://www.michigan.gov/orsstatedb) and Defined Contribution (DC) (https://www.michigan.gov/orsstatedc) . New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
