Job Summary:
Under general direction, performs a variety of laboratory and clinical diagnostic procedures including cardiac electro-physiologic studies, EEG's, Cardiac and Vascular Ultrasound examinations including Cardiac Doppler.
Essential Job Duties:
Performs Echocardiographic procedures in a timely manner; documents required information and communicates to primary physician and direct care staff pertinent information.
Coordinates and assists the care of patients assigned in collaboration with radiology techs, physicians, nurses and allied health staff.
Evaluates patient condition in order to adequately perform Echocardiographic exam for best outcome of patient.
Informs and explains procedure to be performed and what is expected.
Provides comprehensive direct patient care and assures a safe and comforting environment.
Consults with other staff as necessary to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Participates in the Quality Improvement and utilization review programs per ICAEL requirements.
Assumes a leader role in the maintenance of the patient-focused care delivery system.
Assists co-workers within the organization to ensure that the best patient-focused care is delivered.
Other duties as assigned.
Standard Qualifications:
High School Graduate or Equivalent. Graduate of an AMA approved Cardiovascular Diagnostic program, or equivalent.
Six months of experience as an ECHO technician, preferred.
Registered Sonographer from CCI or ARDMS required.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart. Working knowledge of all phases of non-invasive diagnostic procedures. Knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiac.
