Duties and Responsibilities
· performing office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
· communicating with patients, insurance companies and suppliers (e.g., answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, billing, insurance coverage inquiries, ordering supplies, and other tasks necessary to provide great customer service)
· helping to provide direct patient information of all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery
· understanding and communicating with patient's medical history
· helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
· providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
· assisting the dentist (and future hygienist) during a variety of treatment procedures during the main assistant's absence
· assisting with dental radiographs (x-rays)
· serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol, preparing, disinfecting and sterilizing instruments and equipment
· maintaining a high standard of patient confidentiality
· high school diploma required
· valid driver's license required
Training Opportunities
· Continuing Education through participating in conventions, outside trainings, and reading dental articles and journals
· MDA Radiography Training Program
· Dental Assistants attain recognition as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by passing the Dental Assisting National Board
Benefits
Wage negotiable and based on experience
· 32-39 hours per week
Generally, Mon through Thurs, 7:45 am to 5/6pm, unpaid 1 hour lunch from 1pm to 2pm
