This position is located in Keweenaw National Historical Park.
Responsibilities
The Keweenaw NHP Architect is responsible for the historic structures resources within the park, including maintenance, projects and proposals, structural assessments and other studies, and restoration or other treatment in accordance with the Secretary's Standards. The architect also provides technical assistance to other park staff and to the 21 Keweenaw Heritage Sites.

U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1-2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/14/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the Secretary of Interior Professional Qualification Standards by close of the announcement: Possess a professional degree in architecture plus: (You must provide transcripts to document your degree in architecture to receive credit). 1). Possess at least two years of full-time experience in architecture. (Your resume must document two years of full-time experience in architecture-please include hours per week worked to support full-time claim). -OR- B. I possess a State license to practice architecture. (You must provide a copy of your state license to receive credit). -AND- In addition to meeting the Secretary of Interior Professional Qualification Standards, to qualify at the GS-11 level you must meet the minimum qualifications for this position. EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: providing advisory services to park staff and partners on conventional and historical architectural projects, activities and concerns; assisting with historic preservation project requirements and priorities for park and partners; monitoring architectural project activities and reporting results. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least . Three (3) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work. Physical Demands: The position may require strenuous physical activity including periods of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some activities will occur in physically dangerous areas or settings. Documentary research and report writing work is sedentary, which entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time. Working Conditions: The work is performed in both an office setting and occasionally in the field as required to perform on-site investigations and inspections. The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
