Positions Location: Ionia, MI General Purpose of Job: Provides basic patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician. Performs various clerical and administrative duties under the direction of the Physician Practice Office Manager. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. - Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and office staff in a professional manner.
- Processes patients and schedules appointments/tests following established guidelines.
- Assists in assessing the condition of the patient, and preparing the patient for the examination.
- Reports pertinent information to appropriate personnel, and records data in the patient record.
- Administers medication, performs diagnostic procedures/treatments in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Answers phone/nurse line, and refers patient calls to the appropriate personnel.
- Enters and posts appropriate information on patient encounter forms and department logs.
- Maintains files, obtains appropriate authorization forms/releases. Prepares and files records.
- Acts as trusted agent for providers ordering prescriptions by calling, faxing or electronically/sent prescriptions and refill information to designated pharmacy.
- Maintains equipment and supplies, and operates various office and medical equipment.
- Perform registrar duties as needed.
General Requirements | Current certification in basic life support Certified Medical Assistant preferred | Work Experience | Previous experience in a physician health care office or similar setting preferred | Education | High School Diploma or GED Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or nursing degree program preferred | Specialized Knowledge and Skills | Demonstrated knowledge of computers, insurance, and medical terminology Excellent verbal and communication skills. |
