Job Title: Experienced CNC Lathe Machinist
Growing and stable (no lay-offs in over 15 years) Aerospace/Energy precision machine shop located in Romulus, Michigan is seeking both entry level burr hands and experienced machinists for full-time employment. Job Description:
Operator must be able to set-up from standardized work instructions and verify that tooling and parts are properly loaded. Must be able to understand and operate conventional CNC turning centers (lathe). Experience on Fanuc and Haas controls required. Responsibilities also include loading, editing, and verifying NC programs (tool changes, offsets, knowledge of G-code, etc) and communicating with the process engineering department. A solid understanding of the GD & T and inspection techniques (in-process) is also required. Work within very close tolerances and be able to work in a production setting. Read drawings, job orders, or tooling instructions to ensure all components produced meet specifications using appropriate measuring equipment. Perform routine machine maintenance. Monitor tool wear, change tools and inserts as required. Good work ethic and flexibility to work overtime if needed. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Good discipline and cooperation with others. Must be able to communicate and have interpersonal skill with attention to detail. Experience in handling large, heavy parts as well as smaller components (up to 40lbs without assistance).
Flexibility in being able to operate either a CNC Lathe (2 axis) or CNC Mill (3-5 axis) and hold tolerances of 0.0005 is a big plus
Job Requirements: All positions require a high school diploma or GED and familiarity with common hand tools and measurement equipment. This position will start on the afternoon shift after the probationary period of 90 working days on the day shift has been completed. All applicants will be expected to pass shop math exam and pre-employment physical exam/drug screening. Experience within the Aerospace industry and super alloys (nickel based) a plus.
Experienced Machinists must have a minimum of 10 years machining experience. Journeyman machinist or equivalent documentation.
