The Solution Architect will stay apprised of industry trends and best products with the aim of adapting them to help scale portfolio products. Working with the Product group and other stakeholders, the Solution Architect will ensure that features are well understood, designed and documented so that developers can work on implementation. In collaboration with the Head of Engineering, the Solution Architect will develop high level plans and estimates of effort to help assess product ideas for inclusion and prioritization on the overall product roadmaps. The Solution Architect will assist with coding efforts and provide a technical lead role to assist and mentor other internal and contracted engineers. As part of the technical lead capacity, the Solution Architect will help enculturate and improve scrum methodologies with the aim of sustaining self-organizing teams that efficiently produce high quality product for the Reseda Group and its portfolio of CUSOs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
For the portfolio in general, participate with other Architects and Head of Engineering to develop a Reseda Group architectural standards and guidelines.
For each product, take lead in designing full system architecture including, user interface, business tier and data layer. Leverage knowledge of best practice design patterns for each layer. Look for opportunities to leverage code and services across products.
Stay current with emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations on the appropriate technology needed to scale in the short and long term.
Work with department's documented scrum methodologies. Recommend improvements that support department design and development goals and increase department productivity and efficiency.
Actively participate in the entire process of development, including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
Serves as Engineering Lead providing mentoring and guidance to other internal and contracted engineers.
Identify, recommend and work with vendors to support or enhance the products and ensure vendors and vendors' APIs perform as needed and Reseda Group optimizes its use of the vendor
As directed, analyze and research new and innovative products, enterprise-level business solutions, and/or processes to enhance electronic service delivery and/or to reduce costs or improve business workflow.
Analyze and develop solutions for complex challenges with the company's user growth with engagement KPIs in mind.
Contribute to and deliver on a strategy for building and growing the quality of the department.
Participate in training activities within your department or branch and with the learning and talent development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Effective verbal and visual communication skills to describe research, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale.
4-6 years development experience supporting complex web-based enterprise scale solutions. Experience in all areas of development, front-end, business tier and data layer, release management, source control management.
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology Management, Business Administration, or another related field from accredited four-year college preferred.
Experience in structured database modelling and coding. Technologies include MS SQL Server, Oracle, Progress, etc.
Experience in document databases and knowledge of MongoDB and Umbraco CMS a plus.
Understanding of how to optimize and fine-tune backend application that uses MySQL or other external and open-source software.
Strong will to learn, create and conquer!
Experience in an early-stage startup environment, preferred.
Mobile apps development and deployment.
Strong experience with service-oriented architecture including integration with external vendor APIs and SDKs.
Cloud development experience in AWS and/or Azure a plus.
Experience with the technologies in our stack (React Native, Umbraco, Azure Pipelines, AWS, Mongo Realm, Mongo Atlas DB, Azure data services)
Ability and desire to learn new technologies with an eye to optimizing applications, total cost of ownership and providing better user experience.
Ability to use good judgment to solve problems efficiently and accurately and handle complex details.
Multi-task orientation to handle and manage a number of projects at once while remaining flexible to changing requirements and priorities.
Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner and collaborate effectively in teams with all levels of the organization.
Ability to understand and walk the line between perfection and good enough. Ability to breakdown complex requests into minimally viable product to get to market quickly with the aim to rapidly iterate with new features.
Must be available outside of normal business hours to assist in recovery in the event of a failure or outage of a critical Reseda Group system.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
Frequently needs to move about inside or outside of an office area
Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
Frequently moves equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds for transport between areas of buildings.
