Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Operations Engineering, this position will manage and support multiple complex capital projects related to new technologies, automated equipment, and electrical & control systems. Support CI initiatives within manufacturing locations. Responsible to develop and deploy a material handling technology strategy for a given technology platform. The platform strategy will address best in class equipment design and capabilities, define best practices and standards for equipment and line layouts, link to OEM's on innovation and new developments, focus on building internal and external technical capabilities and a robust support network and provide direction for manufacturing footprint strategies.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
•Effectively manage activities with an emphasis on EHS, quality, productivity, timing, and budget allowances of the new program.
•Act as project manager/engineer on key installations and strategic projects, while following a formalized project management process (charters, timelines, action registers, etc.)
•Electrical & controls technical support of project managers/engineers on ongoing projects
•Identify and support opportunities for productivity and cost reduction projects.
•Develop and then assist with the implementation of best practices.
•Develop organizational technical capabilities in the organization by implementing technology platform training, build technical collaboration networks and mentoring technical team members.
•Perform feasibility studies and special operations and manufacturing projects as directed by the leadership team.
•Communicate and resolve technical, timing and budgetary issues related to projects as they arise. Publish weekly project status reports outlining project status and issues.
•Create and maintain division level technical specifications, standards and documentation for the SC Operations Engineering department.
•Communicate with plants on a regular basis to understand long term project performance and support resolution of plant issues.
•Review and comment on plant and Ops Engineering CEAV requests to ensure accuracy and compliance to standards.
•Understand plant infrastructure, molding machines, and related equipment, as well as requirements for changes and upgrades to improve safety, quality, and overall efficiency.
•Analyze the business, performance, and cost capabilities and limitations of new, proposed, or existing equipment. Includes evaluation of machinery, equipment, tooling, workflow, and vendors.
•Assume an active leadership role on the Amcor Energy Teams and provide input for related initiatives.
•Stay current with new technologies or developments related to the field of electrical engineering.
•Review plant layout and equipment against project requirements. Develop and manage plans for upgrades and expansion requirements.
•Manage various electrical and equipment installations including High Voltage transformer substations, switchgear, and power distribution components.
•Working with Vendors will assist in the design and implementation of automated packaging cells to support SC customer packaging requirements.
•Develop, design, and implement methods and systems that satisfy internal and external reporting needs and requirements; utilizes expertise with MSSQL Server, SQL Reporting Services, Wonderware Information Server, Wonderware Industrial Application Server, and MS Visual Studio.
•Provides programming and troubleshooting support on various PLC and machine control systems.
•Provides team support for design, specification, installation, and debugging of SCADA systems.
•Manages a team of direct reports and is responsible for employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management. Responsible for overall talent management and employee engagement; cultivates an environment of safety, high performance, and ethical and legal compliance; addresses employee relations issues
Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor's Degree Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
•Minimum of 8 years of engineering and manufacturing experience, including (5) or more years' experience in development and support of SCADA systems is required and or industrial networks, preferably utilizing Wonderware software applications.
•Experience in a 24/7 high volume, manufacturing environment.
•Experience and understanding of Plastics injection and blow molding processes are desired.
•Industrial Control Systems, PLCs, HMI, Drives, and various industrial equipment controls.
•PLC (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon), HMI (Rockwell, Wonderware), Drive (AB, SSD) and Robotic (Fanuc, others) Programming.
•MS SQL Database support, programming, administration.
