Purpose:
Provide leadership to the operating/maintenance team to achieve the department objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
Fully support mill safety programs, champion a safety excellence culture within areas of management and the facility as a whole.
Support department initiatives established by the Fiberline Systems Business Unit Manager. Ability to convert the overall Business Unit Plan to a daily operations plan.
Create a department vision and guiding principles.
Responsible for long-range (5 -year) capital planning to endure the viability of the Business Unit.
Organizational development of the Woodyard/RMP/PMD operations teams.
Key Accountabilities:
Practice leadership, clear direction, and develop personal accountability to maintain a satisfactory work environment for all employees by providing fair and equal treatment of all reports
Manage the performance and development of salaried and hourly personnel by setting clear expectations and standards of performance and identifying and providing the necessary skill development training.
Forecast annual productivity and cost budgets for the Woodyard/RMP and Pulp Makedown areas. Analyze historical production and cost performance data to prepare detailed gap analysis for improvement opportunities. Facilitate integrated action plans for productivity & cost goal attainment and select champions to lead individual integrated action plan items.
Oversee the action planning process with accountability for monthly measurement and tracking process.
Oversee the succession planning process.
Continuously improve the operation by staying current with new technologies, sharing best practices, identifying non-value added elements and modeling continuous improvement.
Support the goals and initiatives of the overall facility.
Area on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis for off-shifts and weekends.
Required Skills
Experience in a Union environment preferred.
Ability to secure, display, communicate, evaluate and analyze data, information and experience.
Fundamental understanding of process variability reduction principles and management by exception, ability to develop and implement systems.
Effective verbal and written communication skills; competency with standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, Proficy, PI, G3PTM, etc.
Demonstrated ability to comfortably work with employees throughout an organization at all levels, ability to manage change and conflict, influence others, good interpersonal skills.
Required Experience
BS in a technical discipline or equivalent education / experience combination.
3-5 years of manufacturing supervisory/management experience with a preference of both hourly and salaried employees.
