FCA is currently seeking a Powertrain Design and Release Engineer – Automatic and Hybrid Transmissions, who will be responsible for the design, development and release of components and subsystems in conventional automatic and hybrid transmissions.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
•Developing technical requirements for components and subsystems of conventional automatic and hybrid transmissions
•Evaluating designs to the “engineering best practice” documents
•Developing DFMEAs and access designs for failure modes robustness
•Developing DVP&R plans to validate design changes
•Developing tools, test procedures and acceptance criteria for transmission components
•Coordinating appropriate design detailing and CAE activities for design updates and or new designs
•Supporting manufacturing for production related issues
•Generating and implementing cost reduction ideas
•Participating in warranty/cost reduction meetings and developing solutions for warranty issues
•Conducting root cause analysis of transmission failures and identifying the root cause/s
•Collaborating with the transmission systems group to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes
•Providing guidance and direction to suppliers through resourcing, process or sourcing changes, and development using the appropriate change management system
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•Minimum 3 years of industry engineering experience in product development design and release
•Minimum 2 years of industry powertrain engineering experience
•Must have demonstrated competency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
•Must have functional knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google G Suite tools for documents, projects, spreadsheets and presentations
•Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
•Must be highly motivated with a strong work ethic and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•Design for Six Sigma certification
•Working knowledge of NX/Teamcenter
