We are currently seeking an Estimating Engineer for our Lansing Corporate office. This roll will support and work with management, operations and our estimating team in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications. This individual should have knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles. Qualified individuals will have estimating experience across various markets. They must be confident working with the estimating team on projects of varying sizes, and be capable of estimating hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects. This individual must be self-motivated, possess strong communication/interpersonal skills and be confident in his/her ability to develop and manage their assigned portion of the estimate.
Basic Responsibilities:
•Read and interpret drawings and project specifications
•Survey/quantify materials/assemblies from drawings
•Develops knowledge of on-screen takeoff/3D QTO Technologies and Estimating Platform
•Organizes quantity takeoffs for ease of audit
•Contacting and following up with subcontractors for pricing input
•Prepares notes from phone conversations
•Arranges for document reproduction and distribution
•Develops knowledge of construction pricing
•Makes recommendations for database pricing changes
Requirements:
•Entry level to Mid-level Electrical Cost Estimator
•Must have fundamental understanding of electrical engineering and design
•Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, plus a minimum of three to five years' experience in construction
•Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office and estimating software's
•Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Strong time management and organizational skills
•Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, with an emphasis on thoroughness, and attention to details
•Ability to work in a fast-paced professional and team-oriented environment
•Enjoys being a team member and a problem solver
•Preferred experience in commercial construction estimating and/or project management
•Preferred experience with estimating and bid software programs
