Ford EDS is looking for a college graduate to join our Team as an EDS engineer. As a teammate, you will collaborate with other Team members, key work partners throughout the company, and Supplier personnel to design best in class wiring systems for future Ford vehicles. With your creative and analytical mind, you will use key insights to frame new opportunity spaces. You will guide and oversee all EDS work throughout the design and release process.
Major new technologies like powertrain electrification, vehicle connectivity, and automated driving are being rapidly introduced into our products. As a result, the vehicle's electrical architecture continues to grow in content and complexity. This growth impacts the cost, weight and packaging of the electrical distribution system (EDS) which is a central element of this architecture. The Ford EDS Team is a growing team committed to crafting world-class systems and that commitment continually encourages our team to go further. Responsibilities:
Support vehicle integration meetings
Manage physical schematic development
Sign-off physical schematics
Support circuit CAE analysis and other design verification activities
Lead electrical system compatibility reviews
Utilize the best design for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices
Develop and maintain program specific foundation documents and harness family complexity
Lead Technical Design Reviews
Manage component and harness part delivery
Perform master harness assessment and part sign-off
Manage manufacturing supplier tooling development, DV/PV, PPAP
Manage full service supplier to achieve program timing, cost, and weight output
Address vehicle assembly issues, make necessary design changes
Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact
Raise and resolve AIMS during all build phases
Support cost analysis reviews
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
And
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's/Master's/PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering with graduation no later than May 2020
Preferred Qualifications:
MSEE/MSME
Working knowledge regarding wire harness engineering
Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system. Understanding of wire type/gauges, connector/terminals, fuses, relays, covering, and routings
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills
Working knowledge of Ford Global Product Development System and launch experience, Team Center Engineering, and Digital Buck
Proficient with MS Office
