Position Summary:
Performs echocardiography and non-invasive vascular studies and other diagnostic testing, participates in-patient/family teaching and works cooperatively with other healthcare personnel.
Job Accountabilities:
Provides age-appropriate care to all young adult, adult, and geriatric patients/clients/families served in a manner that embodies body, mind, and spirit.
Employs critical thinking skills and sound judgment in all aspects of care. Makes modifications in patient care based on evaluation and continuing assessments.
Addresses patient/family education needs considering patient level of comprehension, style of learning, and discharge needs.
Collaborates with all members of the health care team to promote a seamless patient care continuum.
Promotes a therapeutic and healing environment for the patient, incorporates the patient's support system, and displays an understanding of the family dynamics and its impact on the patient's state of well being.
Performs all interventions/procedures within job scope and specific field of specialty in accordance with standards of care, policies & procedures, regulatory guidelines, and role specific competencies specifically: Echo Tech: Operation of diagnostic echocardiographic equipment, transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography, TEE, use of Echo Contrast, limited vascular testing as trained and competent. Vascular Tech: Operation of diagnostic vascular equipment, venous duplex, carotid duplex, arterial duplex/doppler studies.
Initiates emergency care as necessary and maintains BCLS and other certifications required by the job, i.e. ACLS.
Follows proper chain of command when issues/problems arise and demonstrates appropriate follow-through.
Displays professionalism at all times and maintains patient confidentiality.
Lives out the PNR guiding principles and the Vision of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Services.
Stays current in field of specialty by actively participating in continuing education and maintaining certifications and annual competencies. Actively participates in orienting new staff and contributes to the growth of others.

• Vascular Tech:Registered Vascular Technologist (by ARDMS) • Echo Tech: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (by ARDMS) • If not registered in primary position, must achieve Registration in field of specialty within 3 years of hire. • BCLS at time of hire
