The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the organization. This position coordinates and manages all aspects of maintenance for the manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Manager facilitates all maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted operations, motivates and develops support leaders, and maintenance mechanics to lead a dynamic and customer-focused maintenance department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Initiate, implement and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the dairy industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
* Monitor the use and inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment; reordering when necessary.
* Maintain and repair maintenance shop equipment.
* Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
* Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related issues.
* Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
* Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
* Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime; resolve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for
* improvement.
* Initiate and carry out projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
* Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
* Drive training and coaching to ensure compliance with Safety standards and incident prevention.
* Coordinate activities with Plant Operations Departments.
* Manage, support, and mentor team of Engineers (automation, project, process, etc.) to effectively drive and document change.
* Manage, support, and mentor team of building/facilities/utilities mechanics responsible for boilers, chillers, compressed air, steam, softeners, electrical, etc.

- Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations.
- Direct implementation of departmental objectives, goals and policies.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Communicate effectively with employees, production, quality, management and other team members.
* Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
* Safety Protocol
- Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
- Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
- Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:
Education Required:
* Associate's or Technical Degree or Trade School Certificate/Diploma in a related field required.
* Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Business, Engineering or a related field preferred.
* Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience Required:
* Minimum five (5) years facility/maintenance experience in food production environment required.
* Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role required.
* Experience with forklift repair required.
* In-depth knowledge of the dairy plant, maintenance preferred.
* Experience in Instrumentation Controls preferred.
Certification/Licensure Required:
* Forklift Certification required.
* HazMat Responder Certification required.
Skills Required:
* Ability to read, understand, and follow documents and procedures (GLP, SOP, MSDS, GMP, test procedures, and HACCP).
* Demonstrate leadership as part of a cross-functional plant management team.

* Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and field-specific software.
