Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior IT Engineer for our IT Project Delivery engineering team. This position can either be located at a Charles River Labs site or work remotely.
As an individual contributor and part of a cross functional team of engineers, the Senior IT Engineer will be an integral component to delivering effective end to end infrastructure technology solutions.
This role will require a mix of subject matter expertise in hybrid cloud technologies along with a broad understanding of current relevant technologies - some depth of expertise with cross discipline competence to work effectively on a high performing team to assist in designing, delivering and implementing complex technology solutions.
The following are responsibilites related to theSenior IT Engineerposition:
Design, build, and deploy highly complex IT Infrastructure solutions.
Write, review, or provide feedback on a technical design proposalParticipate as a subject matter expert in multiple highly complex projects/tasks simultaneously and prioritize as required
Work with the project management, security and solution architecture to ensure solution is delivered on time, on budget and on quality (rapid, reliable and right)
Document IT infrastructure engineering procedures and collaborate on various information technology projects.
Keep abreast and gain expertise in evolving technologies and understand their potential business application
Evaluate, select and implement new products/technologies to meet changing IT and business needs.
Establish test criteria, measurement metrics, testing methodology and test plans (including tests for functionality, integrity, performance and stress testing).
Provide training and/or ensure effective knowledge transfer to those responsible for support of new solutions such that adoption and value realization is optimized.
Responsible for delivering technical documentation (engineering)
Assist with adding repeatable work and solutions to the Charles River IT Service Catalog
Train less experienced personnel in technical complexities
Job Requirements
The following are minimum requirements related to the Senior IT Engineer position.
Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
Expeience: Minimum of eight (8) years related IT experience
Subject matter expertise in one or several of the following technologies - VMware virtualization, vRealize Suite, NSX, Azure cloud platform/computing (IaaS and devops), Cisco routing and switching experience (LAN, WAN, VLAN, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, HSRP), including configuring Quality of Service, storage technologies including experience with Dell technologies, Netapp and Infinidat fibre channel and iscsi protocols, converged and hyper-converged offerings such as VxRail and Nutanix, infrastructure as code, Ansible, Python, Powershell, Linux(any variant)
Integration of Hypervisor technologies with storage, network, compute, backup, and cloud platforms.
Open to embracing new and emerging technologies
