We are looking for a Temporary Inspector, responsible for the execution of contractor construction services for major and smaller projects required for the improvement and expansion of the Great Lakes Water Authority. You will assist the Construction Engineering Team in performing the daily inspections services of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects in an efficient and effective way.
Responsibilities (not all-inclusive)
- You will review and interpret plans, blueprints, sketches and specifications, and provide detailed information of factors or issues that may affect construction projects.
- You will maintain quality control standards by assuring inspection and field or laboratory testing of all construction materials, supplies and equipment used on construction projects.
- You will prepare daily and weekly activity logs, reports and specialized reports required for construction accounting and historical reporting.
- In this role, you will advise and assist the engineer in refining requests, securing corrections to defective work, errors and omissions in the design to avoid a non-compliance report.
- As the Inspector, you will attend construction meetings. Monitor work schedules to determine progress and prepare estimates for contract payments. Ensure safety regulations are carried out on construction sites.
- You will wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate training classes and equipment commissioning scheduled by contractor and compile, maintain and store records, drawings and plans related to assigned construction projects.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of construction management experience in relation to a water treatment facility and distribution system
- A valid Michigan Driver’s License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain. May be required to provide own vehicle for transportation on a reimbursed mileage basis
- Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties. Provide on the job training.
