This employee supports the physicians, mid level providers and registered nurses in the evaluation and treatment of patients. The duties of a Clinical Team Member are widely varied throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES
- Works under the direction of the physician, Registered Nurse or Physician’s Assistant to facilitate care and assures that patient's needs are met.
- Assists physician as needed during the examination
- Reviews charts prior to appointments – obtains all films, reports or records necessary for patient visits, documents through the electronic record what x-rays are needed at time of visit
- Works directly with a physician when in office. Obtains patient chief complaint, updates medical history, and takes and records vital signs per protocol. Organized and able to multi-task to keep patients flowing through office.
- Draws up injections, sets out appropriate supplies, educates and preps the patient and assists the physicians as necessary.
- Cast Tech – using accepted methods and protocol, removes old splints and casts and applies casts appropriate for the orthopaedic condition. Assesses problem casts and changes as necessary. Completely and Accurately Documents all services provided.
- Instruct, apply and document: nursing care / teaching – activity limitation, wound care, cast care, braces, studies/blood work, medications, medical equipment and teaching based on specific orthopaedic condition including osteoporosis.
- Removes sutures and/or staples, applies dressing.
- Schedules outside studies and makes referrals as ordered by the physician.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient / family advocate.
- Maintain patient dignity and privacy under HIPAA guidelines
- Telephone Triage – collects appropriate information to determine need, answers questions as documented in the chart or per protocol. Responds to the patient need, calling or faxing in medications per post-operative/post fracture follow-up. Documents per protocol.
- Copies, sends and scans signed therapy prescriptions, physical therapy protocols, handouts for patient instructions, and medical records requested as signed and directed by the physician.
- Disposes of soiled dressings, used sharps appropriately. Cleans equipment appropriately between patients and at the end of the day. Stocks rooms and maintains autoclave as assigned.
- Administers and logs annual employee flu shots.
- Administers and reads employee TB skin testing.
- Maintains stock for POD and orders supplies for POD.
- Maintains, stocks and orders supplies for employee break room.
- Completes, faxes and scans short term, long term, attending physician statements and FMLA paper work.
- Obtains authorization for outside referrals and studies.
- Faxes records for outside referrals.
- Schedule/maintain medical legal reviews/documents.
- Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
REQUIRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- State of Michigan LPN license
- Has successfully completed a competency-based orientation program and CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment is required.

Motor, sensory and physical requirements:
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting and reaching required
- Employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment
- Employee must have normal or correctible range of hearing and eyesight.
