Role Summary:
GE Corporate's Global Functions organization focuses on delivering critical, shared services solutions to all of GE's businesses. We are looking for a Staff Technical Product Manager to be part of our HR Technologies - Employee Products and Services team responsible for a suite of solutions serving our employees at GE.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Staff Technical Product Manager will operate as a key member of a cross functional team that includes product managers, business partners, software engineers and UX designers. In this role, you will be responsible to partner across the groups and determine what can be delivered through balancing the need for new features, defects, and technical debt. Your priority will be seamless integration and alignment of perspectives from a broad set of stakeholders. The Staff Technical Product Manager is expected to be extremely hands on and have a deep technical experience and experience delivering technical products from discovery to production operations.
In this role, you will:
Work with cross functional teams to deliver features and significant products
Own the short-term roadmap for MVPs and product releases
Continuously prioritize ideas, pain points and needs across multiple input/feedback channels
Demonstrate expert level skill in problem decomposition and ability to navigate through ambiguity
Engage frequently with the development team - facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation; contribute to design activities and decisions
Own and manage the backlog; continuously order and prioritize to ensure that 1-2 sprints/iterations of backlog are always ready
Collaborate with UX in design decisions, demonstrating deep understanding of technology stack and impact on final product
Conduct customer and stakeholder interviews and elaborate on personas
Be regarded as an expert in Agile Methodology; translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work units through problem decomposition and planning
Demonstrate superior persuasion and influencing skills that ensure alignment between customer, product manager and engineering team
Demonstrates excelling business acumen, knows latest industry trends and is looked at as an internal expert on the product as well as the associated competitive landscape
Mentor junior team members
Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development OR Master's degree with 6 years of experience in software development OR PhD with 3 years of experience in software development
GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Must be willing to travel (10%)
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Schenectady, New York or Van Buren Township, Michigan
Desired Characteristics:
Hands on experience in one or more of these - Java/J2EE, JSON, JQuery, Frameworks (Spring, SOA), Databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), Automation Tools (UIPath, Blue Prism, Pega), QA (Selenium, HP QTP, Tosca), CI/CD (Jenkins, Github).
Prior experience with HRIT systems
Prior experience with SAAS/PAAS platforms, especially HR-focused platforms
Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
Experience working in Agile engineering environment. Scrum master certification.
Familiarity with versatile implementation options, including Java, Node.js, Go, Python.
