a part-time Client Accountant.

AFM’s team of professionals is focused on meeting client needs by providing a complete range of forestry services including land and wildlife management, land sale and acquisition services, forest inventory and design, growth and yield modeling, cash flow projections, environmental services, appraisal, forest resource data management, and harvest scheduling.
Summary: The position is responsible for entering timber scale tickets into the wood accounting system from the timber harvesting operations as well as other general assistance in contractor payment and record keeping. The person filling this position must have a rigorous intellect and be capable of accurate and independent problem-solving in a very high production environment. This position will be 20-30 hours per week.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Enter scale tickets received from customers/contractors and print invoices
- Prepare and enter checks received for deposit via check scanner
- Enter checks and direct deposits into wood accounting system
- Reconcile scale tickets, payment receipts, and accounts receivable within the wood accounting system
- Retrieve external log yard tickets, convert data to process, and solve any ticket problems
- Create invoices for log yard sales
- Prepare and send service contractor settlements
- Respond to service contractor inquiries regarding their payments
- Interface with customers regarding payments received and solve any payment problems
- Other duties as assigned

- Must maintain strict confidentiality with client and internal information
- Absolute attention to detail and accuracy is essential
- Must possess math ability of percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Excellent client, customer, and internal service skills
- Ability to develop strong team relationships with managers and co-workers
- Able to solve problems encountered during the work day
Education and Experience:
- Associated Degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience in the forest products industry is very beneficial.
- Computer skills include general word processing, simple spreadsheets, internet usage, and aptitude to learn job-specific software.

- Ability to work independently as part of a small team.
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
- Successful candidate will have the ability to adapt and learn.
- Must be detail oriented; accuracy of work is essential.
- Must have a high aptitude to learn and run multiple software programs, especially the wood accounting system.
- Must have high organizational skills to navigate the complexities of wood transactions.
- Previous timber industry experience is desirable.
